Great Amber Oud Inspired by 40 Jubilation

Jubilation 40 Man is Amouage’s 40th-anniversary extrait of the house classic Jubilation XXV — a dense, twenty-note fruit-spice-oud composition built by Bertrand Duchaufour. Great Amber Oud by Code Indra takes the same amber-oud-incense core but pares that complexity down considerably, in an extrait de parfum built for India’s climate and price point.

How It Compares to the Original

Jubilation 40’s actual formula opens on blackberry, blackcurrant, rosemary and davana, moves through a heart of frankincense, cinnamon, clove, bay leaf and celery seeds, and closes on ten base notes including guaiac wood, moss, cedar and ambergris. Great Amber Oud pulls frankincense and cinnamon forward into the opening instead of the heart, adds a honey-orchid sweetness that isn’t part of the original formula at all, and drops most of that base complexity — cistus, moss, guaiac wood, celery seeds — in favor of a simpler amber-musk-civet finish. It’s a real simplification of a genuinely complex original, not a note-for-note match.
