Description
Amouage’s Silver Oud is known for a raw, animalic Assam oud softened by Madagascar vanilla — a sweetness that’s unusual for an oud-forward release. Oud Ember by Code Indra takes the same oud-centric idea but drops that gourmand sweetness in favor of a drier, leather-and-vetiver treatment, delivered in extrait strength for longer wear in Indian heat.

How It Compares to the Original
Silver Oud’s actual pyramid opens on cypriol, Virginia cedar and patchouli, moves into an oud-and-Madagascar-vanilla heart, and closes on castoreum, amber, guaiac wood and birch — the vanilla is what reviewers consistently point to as the note that keeps its raw oud from being harsh. Oud Ember drops that vanilla completely and skips the cypriol-patchouli opening, building instead around pink pepper, juniper, leather and vetiver. The effect is a noticeably drier, more classic leather-oud than the original’s sweeter, vanilla-cushioned version.
